Weekly screenings with at least 80% European content

Cinema Club

Cinema has always been a popular tool to promote issues that are concerning the world. Through movies, audiences get more emotionally involved with the topics presented than through other activities (i.e. reading the news). That is why the creation of a cinema club in a local area that doesn’t have the access to cultural cinema the same way that urban centers have, would be beneficial for the promotion of the topics that are now on the agenda of the European Union.

It is also very crucial to create an audience that is not only emotionally involved but also thinks deeper on the issues. That is why a dialectical approach would be useful. For this reason, our screenings were followed by lectures and discussions in order to initiate interaction between local citizens and people who represent cultural professions.

The audience was actively involved in the organization of a big part of these screenings. The screenings combined physical and virtual screenings from different genres and formats, embodying European cultural diversity; feature films, TV series, animation, documentaries, heritage films, short formats.

The activities were organised in 5 regions: San Giorgio a Cremano (and East Naples), Fortetsa (and suburban areas in Heraklion Crete), Lesvos, Phalempin and surrounding areas in France, Klaipeda in Lithuania. Since there were 2 regions participating from Greece, we had 4 partner countries but 5 participating regions.
